Good Evening,

Monday I got a CBC and a full blood work up for my annual physical. My platelets were at 42 which is really very good for me and the number was a pleasant surprise for me. I thought that I was going to be much lower. Actually the CBC was ordered by my doc after I told him of my recent issues. The other was scheduled for my physical. Anyway, the rest of the CBC was all in normal ranges. Pretty darn good for me!

The lipid profile and the rest of the work was also very good. Sickeningly good! Total Chl 151, triglycerides at 80, and so on. Pretty darn good and I am happy about it. I was missing my PSA, prostate specific antigen, count. I have a solid baseline of .4, yes point four. At my age that is beyond good. But I do not have that count yet. I watch this one closely as I have no genetic history.

At 4:28 today I received a call from the doc office to call them ASAP. I did a few minutes later and they were closed. NO message from them, I was just to call ASAP. Now I am not happy about this call one bit. Why would you do that to someone, let alone someone with issues like ITP or any other similar problem? They could have recalled, or left some type of HEPA compliant message. I was exchanging some jeans and did not have my phone with me.

Have any of you had this type of issue before? I WILL address it with the doc and his office. I am really not wanting to call in morning, I am scared. I admit it. I really don't want to know what they want to tell me. I am mad, mad at them, and mad at the world! I will be better after I write this but now I am pissed! I have been able to fix almost everything my entire life, but alas it appears that I have met my match or at the very least a worthy opponent.

Morals of the story; Carry your phone and do not buy "shrink to fit" jeans. The phone is not an issue but the jeans shrink too much! B)

Right now my plan is to ensure that a phone nurse has a real bad day.... I will in all likelihood completely reverse my stance now be nice and polite and just cope with what is told me.

I am better now.... Somewhat...

Jeffrey - my doctors office used to do that ALL the time. They'd call my home phone when I was at work. By the time I got home and got the message, they were closed. They had my work number in the file.

They did scare me once or twice with calls like that. Call back ASAP and ask to speak to the doctor! One time it was to tell me that my potassium was a bit low. No biggie, scared me overnight for nothing. I can't remember what the other time was, but it was also fairly minor. Advice - stay calm and do not assume the worst.

I saw my Rheumatologist today and she also dropped a small bomb on me. She asked if we'd ever discussed the nodule found on my lung on the last chest x-ray. No.....no one mentioned that at all. She said it didn't look malignant, but she wants a follow up x-ray. The last one was a year ago. How the heck do things like that go unmentioned for a year? Lesson - never assume all is well if they don't call.

Good Afternoon!

I called the doctor, and it was a false alarm. They want some info from me that was not really related. My PSA was .5. I know I should not have panicked but I did. I am the better for it now. Lesson learned. I did "explain" a couple of things to them..... B)

Dentist appointment today, I got 4 teeth filled. Does it ever end?????

LOL

There you go! Feel better?
Hope the session in the dentist goes OK. Greg & I are in the midst (several years) of dental work. I have had nearly all my old amalgam fillings replaced. The dentist will only do 1 or 2 at a time.

Wow, Jeffrey. That would piss me off too. I have signed a waiver for my dr's office to leave voicemails with medical details if I don't answer and if I have any questions to call them back. All I can says, is "sheesh...".

Good Evening!

I am doing pretty well. Sore mouth but that is about it. Still mad at the doc and myself. What a baby I was. Anyway, I have learned! LOL I will be tougher.

I don't know how much longer this earring is going to last either. What was I thinking???? I took my youngest shopping for china and silver last weekend and we bought earrings. Again, what was I thinking??? It was fun though, I do have admit that!

Finish my physical next week and a visit to the oncologist, then I am done for a bit! Got my IVIG bills in the mail today from my knee surgery. What a pleasant surprise! (just kidding!) Money is over rated! LOL

Have a good evening! Feel free to remind me to toughen up!

I've just had similar in that my doctor rang to tell me to have another blood test in 3 months (cheers for that! Good of him to notice I'm having them fortnightly!!!) to check the abnormal blood results I had back in October.... What??! Nobody told me, my doctor couldn't access he results properly on his computer and now I'm chasing my haematologist. I'm where you were a couple of days ago Jeff - absolutely fuming! And you're right sandi - never assume!

Grrrrrrrr!

Glad your call turned out to be over nothing in the end Jeff, hope mine has a similar ending. But somebody will be asked why I wasn't told earlier!!

Lowest count 1. Highest count 207 (ivig) Indium scan showed predominantly splenic destruction. No meds currently, just seeing how things go.

Kat - I've had that sort of situation too. In my case, it was low lymphocytes that were abnormal but not bad enough to cause a lot of alarm. It just needed to be rechecked to make sure it didn't get worse instead of better. I'm being monitored because it pretty much stays the same.

Hey Jeffrey you got me thinking when you said you bought an earring.

When you had your ear pierced they put a stud in how long have you had it in?
Were you given any instructions like using a special cleanser?
Were you told to turn the earring daily?
Did you buy an earring and replace it?
If so is the earring gold? silver? plated?
Is it red around the hole?

Say you took out the stud they gave you and replaced it with a gold earring. This could be a sign of allergy to the gold best way to know is remove it and replace it with a hypo-allergenic type earring.

Julia,

The earring is good. No irritation or infection. I am just being a baby lately! Work does not really like it so it will probably have to go!
