Hey guys!

I'm hoping someone has the fast miracle answer here.....

Just completed a 40 mg dex four day pulse. I stopped yesterday, and of course now I feel like I was hit by a car.

I have to do a show this evening, and I'm hoping that someone has the magic answer for what could give me a short burst of energy. I've done emergen-c, a big dose of b vitamins and multi, green tea, and a fresh juice. Still feel like crap.

Any ideas? Anyone found something in particular that helped them after the dex?

Technically is is my own fault for scheduling a show, but I can't build a magic time machine.......

Let me know!

Kittie! My goodness!

No, dear, there isn't any magic pill you can take. The only thing would be more steroids. You don't want to do that!

I host burlesque shows. That's where the name comes from - Kittie Glitter. I've been doing it for years so I'm not too worried - I've done shows right after rituxan, on prednisone, w the flu....... This ain't terrible. There's a reason that's the saying ("the show must go on")!

But I thought I'd try.

Looks like the old standard will have to do (beer and caffeine)!

Thanks anyway - actually, the vitamins helped some, and excitement for the show is a powerful thing. Sometimes just getting back to living is what ya really need.

Have you considered one of the little energy drinks?

I can absolutely relate to the Dex crash. After my 4 day pulse, I would frequently have to take a day off of work, because I was too exhausted to get out of bed. I would sleep for nearly 24 hours straight.

I would mainly take off of work, because I was too scared to drive to work in rush hour traffic being half asleep. No amount of caffeine could wake me up.

Alternatively, the 4 days I was on Dex, I would barely sleep. I would take 2 prescription sleeping pills at night and get maybe 3 hours at most.

Steroids often made me think that treatment was worse than the ITP itself. Of course, I was very lucky to be diagnosed before I experienced too many complications.

Dean - ironically, im really sensitive to caffeine, so I try to keep it light. And I know that my body doesn't need any extra stress- it just is trying to get equilibrium.

I'm now on day 2.5 after finishing and I can tell I'm starting to feel better. The show was hard - I could barelyl walk! But I've been taking it east since and now the only thing left is the mental - my brain really doesn't like those steroids, and it usually takes me longer to get back mentally. My dreams have been crazy - I woke up in an actual panic attack! And the dreams - I dreamt I was trying to write code. And I have no idea how to do that - I'm about the most opposite of that as you can get!

I tell ya what - steroids have a place in the human body, and that body doesn't like messing w the balance.

As always, thanks for the support and well wishes. And yes Jess - many times the treatments are worse than the ITP!

I've been there a number of times myself....usually on a Dex pulse and having to do a show. In my case it isn't burlesque though, just singing & playing Blues in biker bars.
There is no magic cure...it is simply the old; "The show must go on".
So it's basically beer & caffeine and plow on through with a smile.
Good luck!

Kitty, the regular 5hr energy has the amount of caffine as a cup of coffee and there is a decaf version also. B-vitimans are the main part of this.
Glad to hear you got through the show!

Thanks guys!

I'm now feeling really good - planning on getting my numbers done this week. I'm curious as to what they are since I feel so good. I'd almost forgotten what it was like to have energy, so this has been a great reprieve.

I'll report back soon!
