Hey guys. I was diagnosed with ITP last week & my hematologists is still working on the “why” behind it. I’ve taken adderall for a couple of years, so I was wondering if you all had heard any negative things with adderall causing low platelets? I’ve read a few negative things about it, so I was curious! I’m not currently taking it now because I’m on prednisone! Thanks!! (I’m 28)

  • ITP since 2014. Retired nurse. My belief is empower patients to be involved as much as possible in their care. Read, read, read & ALWAYS question medics about the evidence base they use.

It used to be called idiopathic thrombocytopenia because very often the cause is unknown.

I use MedlinePlus when I want to know about a drug or supplement - I didn't see bruising or unusual bleeding listed as a side effect for adderall.

Most do not know what the cause of their ITP was.
