IBD - Ulcerative Colitis was created by garylouisville
I was diagnosed with ITP in 1990 but have been in remission for more than 10 years. Unfortunately, I have recently been diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis after a bout in the hospital which was later found to be due to Mono. While in the hospital I had been on extremely powerful antibiotics. So, my UC is either due to the antibiotics or possibly an autoimmune reaction to the mono (which I have found limited evidence can be connected). Apparently there is some disagreement in the medical community as to whether UC is actually autoimmune related or not. In any event, since persons with one autoimmune disease can often come down with another, I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with this. My ITP is still in remission.
