Very low counts and very light periods was created by Bflorovito
Hi everyone! I've had ITP for about 3 months now. My counts right now are at 8. I currently have my period and it is EXTEMELY light. It has been lighter than even before I got ITP. Each month seems to be lighter than the one before.

I thought that ITP was supposed to have heavy periods with low counts. It doesn't make sense to me. Would anyone know the reason behind this? Am I just lucky? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

EDIT: I am 100% NOT pregnant.

I think you are just lucky. Take care of youself, 8 is very low. Are you the hospital? Are you getting treatment?

How old are you? Any chance of menopause?

I'm 23! So I really hope it's not menopause. However, I just started NPlate two weeks ago after a failed rituxan course. After my first shot, my counts went up to 21. After the second, they went down to 18. My doctor didn't seem too concerned though. I get my counts rechecked along with my third shot on Wednesday. We'll see how it goes!

Bflorovito, is your doc starting you out on the normal low Nplate starting dose level of a '1' ? That is, 1 micro-gram per kilo-gram of body weight.

Hi! She started me out at 2 mg/kg. However, the highest my counts went with that after 4 weeks was 21. So she increased it to 4 mg/kg. Hopefully this will get it to around 50!

I've had my period as low as 3 and sometimes they're light other months if I have a cold and my platelets are low I won't stop bleeding it doesn't happen often but I usually get admitted until they calm the bleeding down with ivig and megesterol
