I know that the doctors do scare you--but a count of 25 with hardly no symptoms isn't that bad. I agree with Ann; I couldn't take any steriods unless my platelets started to fall. My platelets were all the way to 1 and I still made the doctors take it slow with me. I treated with Decadron pulses becauses my platelets kept falling to 1. Now they have been stable. If my platelets stayed at 25, I, myself, wouldn't let them treat me. This is just my own personal opinion.

Went to doctor to have vitamins levels checked. As I reported recently my cbc on May 26 was 6k, and July 9 was 19k, and yesterday, July 25 they were 26k! Wow, was I ever happy. They have not been in upper 20's since Oct. 2011 which was over 10.5 months.
I am still having the B12 injection every 2 weeks. However, I received my B12 levels today and they were a little high. I am not sure if there are any side effects from high B12 levels. I did just have the injection prior to the blood test for the B12 levels. It might not be completely accurate.
Anyway, I'm thrilled that my cbc count is up to 26k! I still have some bruising and light peteachi on legs.

It seems like it is helping you. I've been trying to change my diet (a little at a time ) to more veggies and fruit.

As I stated previously, I used the Papaya Leaf Extract for 6 months. It did "NOT" work as it is NOT the same as the fresh leaves. My platelet levels stayed at around 6k - 9k while using it.

I have read a bit about papaya and dengue and there does seem to be something in that, but dengue is nowhere near the same as ITP and the two should not be confused. Dengue is caused by a virus and ITP is caused by antibodies so what works for one is unlikely to work for the other.

That's very true! We all need to be open-minded. Sometimes it might work for one person, but not another due to different meds (or something) that the other person is taking that interfers.
I am currently reading Eat to Live by Joel Fuhrman, M.D., who attended the last PDSA Conference. There is a lot of very useful information in his book regarding our diet and what influences our health. I am trying to incorporate some of his information into my own diet and my husband's. I can relate to his book in the same way that the Papaya leaf is used.
