All of a sudden, I'm on this journey of ITP was created by hoju1959@gmail.com
Three weeks ago, my 30-year-old daughter, Carolyn, was admitted to the ER with a very low platelet count. It took us all by surprised. She had steroids and IVIG, neither of which worked. Today, we're getting WinRho. Tomorrow, we start four infusions of retuximab. Feeling scared. What's next? Where is this going?

  • Diagnosed in 2000, at 59, after being on moderately high doses of NSAIDs for arthritis. Splenectomy and rituxan both failed (2004). Did well on prednisone till summer 2018--then terrible reactions. Promacta since 11-19.

This is a good place to be on your journey. Read about the disorder and the treatments on this website. You may get more responses to your treatment questions if you post them on the General Treatment section. Many of us have had ITP for years, and we've learned how to live with it. One can have a full and rich life even with ITP.
