Highlights from the fall 2009 issue of The Platelet News, PDSA’s quarterly newsletter include:
“Research News from the Cytopenias and Hemostasis in 2009 Meeting” held in September in Orlando, FL. This article includes the growing importance of designer mice as they are used to understand disease, including ITP, and effects of treatments and the increasing research focus on genetic research to understand platelet disorders.
“Part 2: Highlights of 2009 ITP Conference in Orlando, FL” brings further coverage of the presentations at this year’s annual meeting. This issue will include the talks and Q&A sessions for “ITP in Children” with Dr. James Bussel, as well as several other key topics.
“Making a Difference” in the fall issue shares the inspiring story of former PDSA Board Chairman Mat Heyman and the role he has played in supporting and shaping PDSA.
“The Small, Small World of ITP” is the story of Sevilya Moradova, a young woman from Uzbekistan who has coped with ITP since childhood. The article describes her amazing journey to the United States to meet with the PDSA staff in Rockville and see an ITP specialist in New York City.
