Fundraising Events

PDSA receives no federal funding.  Our national events not only help support PDSA programs and research, but also help raise public awareness for immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and other platelet disorders.  PDSA is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit corporation.  Donations are tax deductible to the extent of the law.  PDSA is eligible for corporate matching programs.

For more information about registration, organization and corporate sponsorship of our national events, contact PDSA’s Marketing Director Nancy Potthast at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Fundraisers effectively assist PDSA to continuously enhance the lives of people with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and other platelet disorders through education, advocacy, and research and significantly impact the ITP community because they:

  1. RAISE AWARENESS – ITP affects more than 10 times as many individuals as hemophilia yet is unknown by most.  Fundraisers often generate local and national media stories about ITP and inform local community members about the disease.
  2. LEND SUPPORT – We hear repeatedly how fundraising events have helped ITP patients who feel alone in their world of ITP meet and connect with others who understand.
  3. CREATE AN OUTLET TO RELIEVE ANXIETY – Our volunteers overwhelmingly agree that organizing and executing a fundraiser proves therapeutic in channeling their anxieties and fears about their disease into positive energy that helps raise awareness and supports others with ITP.
  4. INCREASE FINANCIAL SUPPORT – It would be remiss not to mention the importance of the funding received through the efforts of our dedicated volunteers. Throughout these trying economic times, it’s our fundraising events that have allowed PDSA to continue to serve the ITP community with no disruption in the services that we so proudly provide for free. We are forever grateful for their awesome efforts.

September 26, 2015

This September, ITP Awareness month, I will be running the half marathon to raise awareness and money for research. PDSA is a non-profit organization that has been such an important part of my journey with ITP.

Please look at my new Fitness Challenge for September! It's to raise awareness for ITP. September is ITP Awareness month and I'm trying to do my part in helping.

My daughter is on the more positive end of this disorder, and for that we are eternally grateful. My husband and I would like you to join us in spreading the word about ITP and help us raise funds for PDSA to help others with information, support, & research.

With love, Melinda

MORE INFORMATION

I would love to have you join my team, Got Platelets. I was diagnosed with ITP in July 2006 and since have had numerous treatments to keep my platelet counts in a safe range. The PDSA was instrumental in getting me information so I could understand what ITP was, what treatment options were available, as well as get me in contact with others so I could have a great support system.

The August Challenge is to get you up and moving and raise money for the PDSA in September during ITP Awareness Month.
